The finish is soft and the curl hold appears to be on the looser end, so no crunchy hair here. Whether this will work on you depends on what you're looking for. I wanted it as an alternative to gel to apply with wet hair so that my waves naturally set, that did not work out as defined as I wanted but there was a noticeable lack of frizz.
